Privacy
NOMIC Ramp is run by NOMIC Research Pty Ltd, Australia, for airlines and ground handlers around the world. This page explains what is stored, where, and who can see it.
Observations
Observations are recorded without names, staff numbers, flight numbers or aircraft registrations. Observers are trained to describe what they see, not who did it.
- On your devices. Observations are saved in the browser on each phone and computer that uses them. On an observer's phone, each observation stays only until it is sent: once your organisation has it, it is removed from the phone. A phone can't read anyone else's observations.
- Online storage, if your organisation turns it on. Observations are kept in NOMIC Ramp's online storage (hosted on Cloudflare) so phones and computers stay in sync. They are encrypted on the device with your organisation's own key before they are sent. The key stays with your organisation's devices and the links you share; it is not sent to the storage.
- Who can see them. People your organisation gives a link to. NOMIC can only see your observations if your organisation chooses to give access, for example by sending NOMIC a link when asking for help. Each observer's phone link has a short label your programme team chooses (no full names), so head office can see how many observations came from each phone. That count is for running the round; results are never shown by observer.
- Deleting. Deleting an observation on a connected computer deletes it on every connected computer. Observers' phones clear each observation once it is sent. Copies in backup files or in spreadsheets you saved are yours to delete. Ask us to remove your organisation's online storage and we will.
Who is responsible for what
- Your organisation decides what is observed and why, and is responsible for its observations (under the EU and UK GDPR, it is the controller).
- NOMIC stores your organisation's encrypted observations for it, if online storage is turned on, and can't read them without your organisation's key (under the GDPR, a processor).
- Who else is involved: Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the website and the online storage and sends sign-in codes for the paid areas. No one else handles your observations.
- How long: your organisation's encrypted items stay in online storage until your organisation deletes them or asks us to remove its storage. Your own agreement sets how long notes are kept (the template suggests 6 or 12 months).
- Leaving: save a backup file or spreadsheets from the app at any time, then ask us to remove your organisation's storage. Nothing is kept afterwards.
- Assessing it: the data protection impact assessment starter sets out what is collected, the risks to workers and the safeguards, ready to adapt for your organisation.
- Where: online storage is on Cloudflare's network. Because items are encrypted with your organisation's key before they leave your devices, they can't be read wherever they are stored.
- Your rights: people in the EU, UK and elsewhere have rights over their personal information. No names or staff numbers are recorded, but the date, time, station and stand of an observation could point at a crew, so treat observations as personal information: keep them inside the programme team and never match them to rosters. For contact-form details, contact us and we will help.
Signing in and paying
The paid levels (Plan, Self-service audit and Supported membership) need a sign-in with a work email from an airline, ground handler or airport. Sign-in codes are sent by Cloudflare. NOMIC Research Pty Ltd keeps the email addresses it approves, and the requests it declines, only to manage access. Ask us to delete yours at any time.
For invoices we keep your organisation's name, the billing contact and the level it bought, for as long as Australian tax law requires.
The benchmark across organisations is shown only to Supported members, and only as a range: never another organisation's figures.
Partners (aviation industry bodies, regulators and non-profit aviation organisations) get the materials. They don't see any organisation's results or benchmark data.
Contact form
If you use a contact form (on the collaborative page or the work with us page), we keep your name, email, organisation, role and anything you write in the message. A copy comes to our inbox by email so we can reply. We use them only to reply and to tell you about NOMIC Ramp and the collaborative. We don't sell or share them. Ask us to delete them at any time and we will.
Share files
If your organisation chooses to send us a share file, it contains codes, turnaround type, the outcome answers and the observer's short comment about the load (before the file is made, the tool removes anything in that comment that looks like a flight number or an aircraft registration): no notes, airport, bay, dates, observers or names. We use it only for pooled, de-identified comparisons.
