NOMIC

Data and governance

The collaborative rests on the trust of the people on the ramp and the operators that employ them. These are the rules NOMIC works to. They apply to every member and to NOMIC itself.

Principles

Principles

Operators own their data

Observations stay with the operator that made them, encrypted with its own key. It can export them at any time, and NOMIC removes the online storage on request.

No jeopardy

Observation is voluntary and never used for discipline, performance management or oversight. Observers record what they see, not who did it.

Sharing is a choice

Each operator decides whether to share results with the collaborative, and when, with its workforce. Not sharing does not limit use of the method.

Nothing identifies a person or an operator

Shared results carry no names, observer details, dates, airports or bays. No organisation can be picked out of a comparison.

Comparison, not ranking

The collaborative shows the range across organisations so each can learn. It does not publish league tables, scores for crews, shifts or observers, or on-time figures by team.

Independence

NOMIC does not audit, certify or report to anyone about a member. No regulator, customer or airline receives a member's results from NOMIC.

What is shared

The share file

The tool prepares a share file that the operator can read before it is sent. It contains:

  • the core codes recorded for each turnaround, and the turnaround type
  • the outcome answers (whether it went well, and whether it was on time)
  • the observer's short comment about the load

It never includes the observers' notes, airport, bay, dates, observer names or numbers, or anything that identifies a person. Local codes are sent as the core code they sit under, so everyone's results stay comparable.

Who sees what

Access to results

The tool and its encryption are described on the security page, and the legal detail is in the privacy note and terms.
