How it fits with what you already do
Most ground operations already have standard procedures, audits and a safety management system. NOMIC Ramp doesn't replace any of them. It adds the one view they can't give you: normal work, as it is really done, on ordinary turnarounds. That's where you find hazards before they become damage or injury.

| What | What it tells you | How NOMIC Ramp works with it |
|---|---|---|
| IGOM (IATA Ground Operations Manual) and your own procedures | How the turnaround should be done: work as imagined | The codes describe the turnaround in the same steps. Variations show where work as done differs from the procedure, and how often, without guessing why. Local codes match your own procedures. |
| ISAGO and other audits | Whether the organisation and its stations meet the standard: ISAGO is now based on IGOM and the Airport Handling Manual, and assesses how they are put into practice at certified stations | An audit is a snapshot on the days it happens. NOMIC Ramp shows how the standards hold up on normal days, across hundreds of turnarounds, between audits, and gives evidence for safety assurance. |
| Ramp LOSA (developed by the FAA with industry; see LOSA for ground operations) | Threats, errors and how they are managed, from non-jeopardy peer observation | The same family. NOMIC Ramp keeps the LOSA characteristics and adds what helps the work go well (Safety-II), a reference data set to compare with, phones that send straight to your own encrypted storage, and an action plan that measures again. |
| Occurrence and hazard reports | What went wrong, and what people chose to report | Reports show the bad days. NOMIC Ramp shows the conditions behind them on ordinary days, before damage happens. Findings go into your hazard register as a spreadsheet. |
| Your safety management system | How you find hazards, manage risk and check that it works | NOM is not an SMS and does not replace one. It is a source of data for yours: hazards seen in normal work (hazard identification), the conditions and good practice that keep the work safe, and a re-measure each round that shows whether your changes worked (safety assurance). The actions that follow go through your own SMS. In Europe, a safety management system becomes a legal requirement for ground handlers from March 2028. |
What only normal work shows
- The gap between work as imagined and work as done, and the reasons for it, before it shows up in an occurrence report.
- What goes with turnarounds going well: the enablers and good practice worth protecting and spreading.
- How teams keep things normal when the turnaround is disrupted: the recovery that never appears in a report.
- Whether a change worked, measured the same way next round.
